COURSE CURRICULUM

The Quantity Surveying BSc (Hons) is structured over three years to progressively develop technical knowledge, professional skills, and industry awareness. In the first year, students explore the legal, technical, and economic contexts of the construction industry, with a strong focus on sustainability, climate literacy, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Core modules introduce construction technology, surveying practice, quantification of construction works, organisational management, and the regulatory framework, while the Navigate module supports the transition to higher education and the development of self-awareness and professional skills. In the second year, learning advances to more complex commercial and contractual structures. Students study procurement, contract administration, cost planning, and design economics, alongside advanced quantification techniques. There is a strong emphasis on digital construction, with training in BIM, Revit, and construction modelling, as well as construction technology and environmental services. The final year focuses on professional practice, consultancy, and project management, preparing students for employment and entrepreneurship. Students engage with professional communities beyond the university, develop applied business and leadership skills, and study construction law and contract practice. The course culminates in a major group project and an independent research project, allowing students to investigate a topic of personal interest. Graduates complete the program with strong technical competence, digital skills, and professional readiness for careers in quantity surveying.
