COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Project Management BSc (Hons) at Kingston University is structured over three years to provide a combination of technical knowledge, practical skills and professional development for careers in the construction industry. In the first year, students complete the Navigate for Professional Engineers module, which supports the transition to higher education and develops self-awareness, motivation and a sense of belonging. This year also introduces sustainability, climate literacy, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, construction management practice, professional practice, construction technology, techniques and construction law, giving students a strong foundation in core principles and industry regulations. The second year builds on these skills through the Exploring Engineering Project Management module, which focuses on teamwork, communication, critical reflection and organisational abilities. Students study digitisation in construction using REVIT and BIM software, procurement, contract administration, construction technology, environmental services, project planning, scheduling, cost planning and design appraisal, providing practical and technical expertise. In the final year, the Applied Business Management module helps students apply professional skills and prepares them for employment or entrepreneurship. The curriculum covers contractual procedures, health and safety, environmental law, site management, feasibility studies, construction information management systems and collaborative BIM workflows. An individual project allows students to conduct specialised research. By graduation, students are equipped with the technical competence, professional understanding and digital skills needed for roles such as project manager, site manager or construction consultant.
