COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence BSc (Hons) at Kingston University develops students’ knowledge and practical skills across three progressive years. In the first year, learners gain a foundation in computing fundamentals, programming, mathematics for AI and professional practice, providing the essential skills required for advanced study. This year focuses on developing problem-solving, computational thinking and the ability to approach programming challenges effectively. In the second year, students build on these foundations with modules in artificial intelligence fundamentals, principles of data analytics, and data modelling, alongside continued professional development. Optional modules such as computing systems and advanced software development allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests while strengthening technical expertise. The final year emphasizes advanced application and independent research. Core modules include applied AI and machine learning, advanced data modelling and an individual project, where students demonstrate their ability to design and implement AI solutions. Optional modules provide opportunities to specialise in areas such as software development practice, user experience design, mobile application development, Bayesian estimation, business modelling with AI and data analytics for AI. Future Skills Apply supports professional readiness, preparing graduates for technology-driven careers. By graduation, students are equipped with strong analytical, computational and AI-focused skills, ready for roles in software development, AI, data science and related technology sectors.
