COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media Content and Communications BA (Hons) at Kingston University provides a progressive and practical approach to developing skills in content creation, digital media, and communications. In Year 1, students build core competencies in creative digital, visual, and audio production, alongside writing for multiple platforms and understanding key media theories and debates in the age of social networks. Industry insights from lectures and guest talks support practical learning, while students begin to develop self-awareness and personal development plans. Year 2 expands these skills through collaborative and individual projects, enhancing audio, video, and written storytelling abilities across magazines, websites, social media, and broadcast formats. Students also deepen critical thinking and research skills while exploring current and emerging debates in media. Opportunities for study abroad or work placements in Europe, the United States, and Australia provide real-world experience. In the final year, students apply their skills through professional-style media production, gaining experience in publications, podcasts, social media, and video, while completing a major independent project, either written or practical. Optional media specialisms allow focus on areas such as journalism, TV production, podcasting, social media management, and visual storytelling. By graduation, students have a comprehensive portfolio, professional experience, and critical insight, preparing them for careers in media production, content creation, and communications industries.
