COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) 3D Design Innovation program develops skills progressively across three years, beginning with core foundations in digital tools, design processes and sustainability. In the first year, students learn essential 2D and 3D modelling techniques through Tools of Innovation 1, explore hands-on making to address social and environmental issues, gain historical grounding in design, and are introduced to entrepreneurship through a start-up focused presentation module that includes a live design project. The second year advances digital capabilities through Tools of Innovation 2, introducing more complex CAD and creative computing, while medium and large-scale making projects encourage deeper engagement with technology and real-world challenges. Entrepreneurial learning continues with strategic, collaborative work involving local organisations, and students strengthen their understanding of global sustainability through the Critical Issues in Innovation Design module. The final year emphasises independence and professional readiness, allowing students to shape their own design direction through a major self-driven project in the Personal Vision module. They also develop and pitch a business concept in the Set-Up module and complete a substantial research project that enhances their analytical and critical thinking abilities. Across all years, the program builds strong digital, creative and entrepreneurial skills for a professional design career.
