COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year MSc Artificial Intelligence program begins in Year 1 with core modules that build foundational knowledge in software development and intelligent systems. Students start with Software Engineering Foundations and Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents in September, alongside options such as Statistical Modelling and Analysis, Databases and Information Systems, and Introduction to Interaction Design. In January, the focus moves to Advanced Software Engineering with optional modules including Project Management, Advanced Human Computer Interaction, Operating Systems and Concurrency, Discrete Mathematics and Introduction to Computer Systems, allowing students to tailor learning to their interests. Year 2 progresses into advanced AI topics, beginning with Biologically Inspired Computation and Data Mining and Machine Learning, complemented by optional modules like Computer Graphics, Human Robot Interaction, Introduction to Natural Language Processing, Intelligent Robotics and Industrial Programming. In January, students study Research Methods and Project Planning to prepare for their dissertation, with choices such as Systems Thinking and Analysis, Big Data Management, Conversational Agents and Spoken Language Processing, Data Visualisation and Analytics, e-Commerce Technology and Games Programming. The program concludes in May with the Masters Project and Dissertation, enabling students to apply specialist knowledge to an independent research or industry-focused project.
