COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Strategic Project Management program is structured to build strong foundations in leadership, strategy and project management while allowing students to tailor their learning through a range of optional modules. In September, students take mandatory courses in Leadership and Strategic Project Management, which introduce the principles of managing people, directing complex projects and aligning project decisions with organisational strategy. Optional modules during this semester include Competitive Strategy, Strategic Innovation Management, Operations Management, Strategic Change and Organisational Behaviour, enabling students to explore how organisations compete, innovate, operate and manage transformation. In January, students continue with the core module Research Philosophy and Practice, which develops skills in research design and academic inquiry, alongside the Project Management module, which deepens their understanding of tools, methodologies and practical techniques used in professional project environments. Optional January modules such as Managing Diversity in Business, Green and Sustainable Logistics, Quality Management, Hacking for MoD, Systems Thinking and Analysis and Business Start-up provide opportunities to specialise in areas related to sustainability, organisational effectiveness, entrepreneurship or defence-oriented problem solving. The program concludes in May with the Strategic Project Management Dissertation, allowing students to conduct independent research in an area of interest and apply theoretical and practical knowledge to a real-world project management issue.
