COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Spatial Planning and Real Estate Development program is structured to build strong foundational and practical skills across planning, property markets and sustainable development. In September, students take mandatory modules in Spatial Planning, Urban Economy and Property Markets, Real Estate Appraisal and Finance and the Strategic Spatial Vision Project. These courses introduce key planning concepts, market dynamics, financial valuation techniques and strategic thinking required for shaping urban environments. In January, the curriculum continues with core modules in Real Estate Development, Environmental Planning and Governance, Participation and Community Planning, which deepen understanding of development processes, environmental considerations and the role of community engagement in planning decisions. Students can also choose from optional modules such as Real Estate Management and Sustainability, Real Estate Investment Analysis or Social Sustainability, allowing them to tailor their learning toward investment, sustainability or social policy themes. In May, all students complete a Research Dissertation in Urban Studies, enabling them to apply their knowledge to an independent, in-depth study of a planning or development issue. Overall, the module structure provides a balanced mix of analytical, financial, strategic and practical skills essential for professional roles in spatial planning and real estate development.
