COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Software Engineering program combines essential core modules with a range of specialised options to help students develop strong technical and methodological expertise. In September, students begin with two mandatory courses: Rigorous Methods for Software Engineering, which builds a foundation in formal and systematic development practices, and Industrial Programming, which enhances practical coding skills for real-world applications. Optional September modules allow students to explore areas such as Biologically Inspired Computation, Computer Network Security, Computer Graphics, Systems Programming, Computer-aided Verification and Data Mining and Machine Learning, enabling both breadth and depth in their learning. In January, students take Advanced Software Engineering and Research Methods and Project Planning as compulsory modules, preparing them for large-scale software development and research work. They can also choose from optional modules including Advanced Human Computer Interaction, Advanced Network Security, Big Data Management, Distributed and Parallel Technologies and Games Programming, supporting specialisations in cutting-edge computing fields. In May, all students complete a Masters Project and Dissertation, applying their knowledge to an independent research or development project. This structure equips graduates with advanced technical skills, practical experience and specialised knowledge suited for careers in software development and related industries.
