COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Quantum Technologies program provides an advanced and career-focused education for Physics and STEM graduates interested in the rapidly growing field of quantum technologies. In September, students complete mandatory modules in Condensed Matter, Quantum Lab and Programming, and Nanophotonics, which build foundational knowledge in quantum materials, experimental techniques, and photonic applications. Optional modules such as Advanced Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Theory & Solid State allow students to deepen their understanding of theoretical and computational aspects of quantum physics. In January, core modules include Quantum Devices, Emerging Topics in Quantum Technologies, and Research and Professional Practice, equipping students with the skills to analyse, design, and evaluate quantum devices while gaining exposure to the latest industry and research developments. Additional optional modules, including Photonic Sensors and Advanced Condensed Matter, enable further specialisation in areas aligned with individual interests and career goals. The program culminates in May with the MSc Research Project in Physics, where students undertake an independent research project, applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills to investigate cutting-edge topics in quantum technologies. Through this combination of rigorous coursework, practical laboratory experience, and independent research, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills, preparing them for careers in industrial research, academic research, product development, or technical and managerial roles within the quantum technologies sector.
