COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Investment Management program provides a comprehensive foundation in investment analysis and portfolio management, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, industry-relevant skills. In September, students complete mandatory modules in Capital Markets and Portfolio Management, which cover the functioning of global financial markets, investment strategies, and asset allocation techniques. Optional modules in the same semester, such as Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Sustainability, Financial Analysis, and International Accounting Standards, allow students to focus on specialised areas and tailor their learning to their professional interests. In January, core modules include Research Philosophy and Practice and Current Topics in Investment Management, providing essential research skills and opportunities to learn from industry practitioners through guest lectures and real-world insights into investment management practices. Additional optional modules such as Emerging Financial Markets, Comparative Financial Reporting, Derivatives, Empirical Financial Modelling, and Advanced Valuation of Financial Markets further enable students to develop expertise in advanced quantitative and analytical techniques used in finance. The program culminates in May with the Accounting, Banking, or Finance Dissertation, where students undertake an independent research project, applying their knowledge and analytical skills to a topic of their choice. Throughout the course, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and transferable skills, including communication, teamwork, and presentation, preparing them for professional careers in investment management, financial analysis, and related sectors.
