COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Sport Management program provides a comprehensive foundation in the principles and practices of managing sport at both national and international levels. In September, students complete mandatory modules in Principles of International Sport Management, International Sport Finance and Sustainability, and International Sport Policy and Governance, which cover strategic management, financial planning, sustainability, and the regulatory and policy frameworks within the sports sector. In January, core modules include Research Philosophy and Practice, Professional Practice in Sport Management, and Applied Sport Management, equipping students with research skills, practical experience, and applied knowledge through engagement with industry practitioners. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to individual interests, with choices in September such as Contemporary Consumers and Leadership, and in January, Branding and Communications or Social Media Marketing. The program culminates in May with a Research Project in International Sport Management, enabling students to carry out an independent, in-depth investigation into a relevant topic, applying theoretical and practical knowledge gained throughout the course. Throughout the program, students develop transferable skills, including teamwork, communication, analytical thinking, and ICT proficiency, which enhance employability in the global sports industry. By integrating theoretical understanding, practical application, and professional experience, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in leadership, management, policy, and strategic roles across a wide range of sporting organisations and international contexts.
