COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Fashion and Textile Design program is structured to provide a comprehensive and progressive learning experience across the academic year. In the September term, students engage with mandatory modules such as Design Thinking and Innovation, and Fashion and Textiles - Experimentation and Research, which establish the foundation for creative exploration and practical skills development. Optional modules in September, including Textile Materials and Sustainability and Sustainable Design & Management, allow students to tailor their learning to focus on environmentally conscious practices and the integration of sustainability within fashion and textile design. In the January term, students continue with mandatory modules like Fashion and Textiles Development and Practice, and Research Methodologies, which deepen their technical abilities and academic understanding while supporting independent research. Optional January modules, such as Design Technologies and Business Enterprise, provide opportunities to enhance technical competencies and entrepreneurial skills, preparing students for professional practice. The program culminates in the mandatory May module, Masters Design Collection, where students consolidate their learning and showcase a coherent, original collection that reflects their creative vision and technical expertise. This structure ensures that graduates develop a balanced combination of practical skills, research capabilities, and professional understanding, equipping them to succeed in the dynamic and evolving global fashion and textile industries.
