COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Data Sciences program provides a comprehensive and structured pathway to develop expertise in data analysis, computation, and machine learning across four years. In the first year, students build foundational skills in mathematics, probability, statistics, and software development through courses such as Calculus A and B, Discrete Mathematics, Software Development 1 and 2, and Introduction to Statistical Science, alongside an optional course to broaden learning. The second year deepens mathematical and computational understanding with courses in Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems, and Probability and Statistics A and B, supplemented with an optional course to enhance specialization. In the third year, students focus on advanced statistical and computational methods, covering Statistical Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents, Software Engineering, Bayesian Inference, and professional development, while choosing two optional courses to align with individual interests. The final year integrates learning with an individual dissertation and advanced taught modules such as Time Series and Machine Learning, Big Data Management, and Advanced Machine Learning, along with optional courses in areas like Optimization, Numerical Analysis, Software Engineering Foundations, and Climate Change and Sustainability. This structure ensures graduates emerge with strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, capable of applying data-driven solutions in diverse sectors and addressing real-world challenges.
