COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Performance Analysis in Sport program offers a combination of theoretical and practical modules designed to prepare students for careers in performance analysis within high-performance sport settings. At all levels, students study Contemporary Issues in Performance Analysis, developing skills to systematically observe, capture, and evaluate athletic performance while critically reviewing current research in the field. The Performance Analysis within the Coaching Process module provides practical experience in applying theoretical concepts, with opportunities to work alongside athletes and coaches within Hartpury’s Sports Academy. Postgraduate diploma and MSc students complete a Postgraduate Industry Placement Experience, requiring 200 hours in a pre-approved professional environment to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world application. MSc students further develop research expertise through The Research Process, which examines research methodologies, strengths, limitations, and applications, and the Postgraduate Dissertation, enabling the planning, execution, and reporting of an independent research project with supervisory support. All postgraduate students also engage with the High Performing Environments module, which develops understanding of leadership, team dynamics, and the processes required to build and sustain elite performance contexts. Successful completion of modules earns academic credit that contributes toward the final award and may influence the classification of the master’s degree, ensuring students gain both practical and academic expertise to excel in performance analysis and applied sport science careers.
