COURSE CURRICULUM

This program focuses on optimising, maintaining, enhancing, and restoring the performance of equestrian athletes through a combination of scientific knowledge and practical application. Students develop a strong understanding of equine exercise physiology and the principles of rehabilitation, enabling them to evaluate how these factors interact to influence the performance and recovery of sports horses. The course also offers flexibility, allowing learners to explore areas such as the rider’s impact on horse performance or to conduct a critical review aligned with their personal interests and career goals. Access to advanced technologies, including gait analysis systems, electromyography equipment, and highly sophisticated riding simulators, provides valuable hands-on experience and insight into performance assessment. Core modules such as Applied Equine Exercise Physiology and Therapy and Rehabilitation of the Equine Athlete build foundational knowledge, while optional modules cover topics like biomechanics, equine management, rider performance, and independent research. The program is delivered across three trimesters, with credits contributing to the final award classification. Overall, it equips students with specialised expertise that supports career progression in equine performance and rehabilitation, while also offering opportunities to continue study at postgraduate diploma or master’s level in related equestrian fields.
