COURSE CURRICULUM

This course consists entirely of compulsory modules to ensure students develop the professional competencies required by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. Across three years, students build a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for a career in veterinary physiotherapy. In the first year, modules focus on preparation for clinical practice, including understanding animal behaviour, welfare, legislation, and management, alongside detailed study of comparative anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology. Students also learn veterinary diagnostics and physiotherapy assessment, supported by placement experiences to reinforce practical skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to applying knowledge in professional contexts, with modules in business management, veterinary physiotherapy rehabilitation, and applied research in veterinary practice, enabling students to develop treatment techniques, understand clinical operations, and critically evaluate research. Placement days continue to enhance hands-on experience and clinical reasoning. In the final year, students complete a postgraduate dissertation, conducting an independent research project on a topic of their choice, further developing analytical and investigative skills. Throughout the program, academic credits contribute to the final qualification classification. Overall, the course ensures graduates are fully prepared with the knowledge, skills, and experience required for professional practice in animal physiotherapy.
