COURSE CURRICULUM

The master’s program in strength and conditioning is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professional experience required to become effective, well-rounded practitioners. The full MSc develops both technical expertise and softer coaching skills, enabling students to bridge the gap between theory and practice while applying evidence-based approaches in real-world contexts. Core modules cover applied practice, conditioning for physical performance, performance profiling and testing, and planning and monitoring athletic training, providing a strong foundation in strength and conditioning science, coaching methodologies, and research principles. Students also develop critical evaluation, analytical, and practical skills to design, coach, and monitor training programs, with opportunities to integrate skill acquisition techniques and advanced research methods. The course emphasizes experiential learning through workshops, practical sessions, and collaborative projects, as well as encouraging students to take on practitioner roles in performance sports settings, including work with the university’s Sports Academy teams. Optional modules for MSc and PGDip students include high performing environments, industry placements, and independent study, allowing for tailored professional development. Postgraduate certificate students focus on applied coaching and conditioning knowledge, while the diploma extends expertise to enhance performance. Successful completion of modules earns academic credits contributing to the final degree award.
