COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Management program combines academic study with practical application, offering a range of modules designed to develop leadership, strategic thinking, and industry-specific skills. All MSc students study core modules, while postgraduate diploma and certificate students can select fewer modules to meet their credit requirements. Strategic Leadership in Sports Management focuses on building consultancy and leadership skills to drive organizational change, emphasizing both strategic and operational engagement. Real World Issues in Sports Management encourages students to critically examine contemporary challenges in the sector, including entrepreneurship, deregulation, sustainability, internationalization, globalization, and health and wellbeing. The Digital Media and Marketing module equips students with the knowledge and skills to create and manage digital content, understand marketing trends such as social media analytics and search engine optimization, and gain Associate membership of the Digital Marketing Institute. The Impact of Sports Management Practices explores monitoring and evaluation approaches, enabling students to assess and improve organizational performance and decision-making. MSc students also complete the Sports Business Consultancy Project, a 60-credit module where they work with industry partners or their own workplace to address a real-world challenge, applying research and consultancy skills to develop practical solutions. Overall, the program integrates theory, applied research, and professional practice to prepare graduates for leadership and management roles across diverse areas of the sports industry.
