COURSE CURRICULUM

This MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition program is delivered by SENr-registered academic staff through a combination of theoretical and practical learning, ensuring students develop both scientific knowledge and applied skills. Practical sessions take place in laboratories, field environments, and specialist nutrition kitchens, helping students build competencies required for professional practice, while theory sessions cover key areas such as human physiology, exercise metabolism, and biochemistry. Assessment is varied and includes written coursework, presentations, case studies, and practical evaluations, with ongoing feedback to support improvement. All modules are compulsory to ensure students meet the requirements for professional recognition. Core modules include Sport and Exercise Nutrition and Practical Sports Nutrition, which provide foundational knowledge and applied skills for working with athletes and diverse client groups. Exercise Metabolism and Biochemistry develops an understanding of physiological processes and assessment methods, while Contemporary Topics explores emerging trends and interdisciplinary approaches. Professional Practice includes an industry placement to enhance real-world experience, and High Performing Environments focuses on teamwork and ethical considerations. The Research Process builds methodological knowledge, and the postgraduate dissertation allows students to complete an independent research project, demonstrating their ability to apply scientific principles in practice.
