COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Horseracing Business degree with Foundation Year is structured over four years to develop knowledge of both the equine industry and business management. In the first year, students build a foundation in equine science, business principles, and academic skills, gaining an understanding of horse care, welfare, and the basics of enterprise and innovation. The second year focuses on core business concepts such as marketing, finance, and economics, alongside an introduction to the horseracing industry, its stakeholders, and funding structures. Students also develop professional and project management skills. In the third year, learning becomes more applied, with a focus on the global horseracing industry, media relations, and market research, combined with a compulsory work placement that provides valuable industry experience. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as event management, human resources, and stud management. In the final year, students specialise further through advanced topics including governance, law, and sustainability within the equestrian sector. They also complete a dissertation research project on a chosen topic. Additional optional modules in leadership, sponsorship, and strategic management enhance career preparation. Overall, the course combines academic study, practical experience, and industry engagement to prepare graduates for careers in the international horseracing and equestrian business sectors.
