COURSE CURRICULUM

The Equine Business Management degree with Foundation Year is structured over four years to develop both business expertise and equine industry knowledge. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in academic skills, business principles, and equine science, including horse anatomy, welfare, and management. The second year focuses on core business areas such as economics, finance, marketing, and project management, alongside developing an understanding of the equine industry and horse biology. Students also enhance their professional and interpersonal skills. In the third year, learning becomes more applied, with a compulsory industry placement of at least 150 hours, allowing students to gain real-world experience in equine-focused organisations. They also undertake research and media-related modules, while choosing optional subjects such as equine nutrition, performance, event management, or human resource management to tailor their degree to their interests. In the final year, students specialise further through advanced topics including sustainability, sales, negotiation, and media content creation, while also completing an independent dissertation research project. Additional optional modules provide opportunities to explore areas such as equine therapy, leadership, sponsorship, and strategic management. Overall, the program combines academic study, practical experience, and industry engagement to prepare graduates for diverse careers in the equine business sector.
