COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree is designed to develop students into skilled and professional sports therapists through a combination of theoretical learning, practical experience, and applied research. In the first year, students build a foundation in anatomy, exercise and movement, sports science, soft tissue therapy, strength and conditioning, and sports psychology, while gaining essential academic and professional skills. Applied practical opportunities provide hands-on experience in assessment, exercise prescription, and therapeutic techniques. In the second year, students advance their knowledge with modules focused on musculoskeletal assessment, rehabilitation, manual therapy, spinal assessment, applied sport and exercise science, and professional practice, complemented by research skills development and further practical hours. The curriculum emphasizes clinical reasoning, injury management, and the integration of sports nutrition and psychological principles into practice. In the final year, students consolidate their expertise through advanced professional practice, applied strength and conditioning, injury prevention, return-to-sport strategies, and external placements totaling a minimum of 250 hours. Students also complete a substantial research project, allowing them to design, implement, and report on a specialist topic. Throughout the program, the combination of academic learning, applied practice, and professional development ensures graduates are prepared to enter the sports therapy profession with confidence, practical competence, and industry-ready skills for a wide range of clinical, sports, and health settings.
