COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Business Management degree is structured to develop a strong blend of business knowledge and industry-specific expertise across three years. In the first year, students build a foundation in core business areas such as marketing, economics, finance, and leadership, while also gaining insight into the structure and management of the sports industry, including policy, public provision, and contemporary issues. The second year focuses on applying this knowledge through practical experiences, including a live industry project and a professional work placement of at least 150 hours. Students also design and conduct a pilot research project while having the flexibility to choose optional modules in areas such as entrepreneurship, human resource management, accounting, international sport development, and sports facilities. In the final year, students specialise further by selecting modules aligned with their career interests and completing a substantial independent research project. Advanced topics include strategic management, sponsorship, social media in sport, leadership, and project management. Students also explore the impact of major sporting events and organisational change. Overall, the course combines academic theory with hands-on experience, enabling students to develop analytical, professional, and strategic skills required for a wide range of careers within the global sports industry.
