COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) International Horseracing Business degree is structured over three years, combining business fundamentals with specialised industry knowledge. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying modules such as marketing, business economics, financial information, project management, and an introduction to the horseracing industry, alongside developing professional and interpersonal skills. The second year focuses on applying this knowledge in practical settings, including a compulsory professional placement of at least 150 hours, allowing students to gain real-world experience. Core topics include international horseracing, media relations, and research in professional practice, while optional modules offer opportunities to explore areas like accounting, human resource management, event management, and stud management. A study trip further enhances understanding through real-world exposure. In the final year, students undertake an independent dissertation and study advanced topics such as sustainability, governance, and law within the horseracing sector. Optional modules allow further specialisation in areas like media content creation, leadership, sales and negotiation, sponsorship, and strategic management. Overall, the course integrates academic theory with hands-on experience and industry engagement, preparing graduates for diverse careers in the global horseracing and equestrian business sectors.
