COURSE CURRICULUM

The Equine Dental Science degree is structured over three years to develop both the technical expertise and professional skills required for a career as an Equine Dental Technician. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in essential subjects such as equine dental anatomy, nutrition, and the fundamentals of dentistry, including instrumentation and horse handling. They also gain an understanding of the equine industry and develop personal and professional skills. The second year focuses on advancing clinical knowledge and practical abilities, with students learning to carry out dental examinations, diagnose dental conditions, and perform routine procedures. This stage also introduces business management concepts, helping students understand how to run a professional practice, alongside developing research skills relevant to the field. In the final year, students progress to more advanced dental procedures, including complex treatments, while also completing an independent research project. Additional modules enhance communication, sales, and media skills, as well as awareness of current developments in equine research. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring students are confident in both clinical and professional settings.
