COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science program is structured over three years to develop a strong foundation in animal biology, disease, and veterinary-related sciences, combining theoretical knowledge with practical and research skills. In the first year, students build core understanding in anatomy and physiology, genetics, biochemistry, animal health, behaviour, and welfare, while also developing essential academic and professional skills. The second year advances this knowledge with a focus on disease processes and diagnostics through modules such as microbiology, pathology, parasitology, nutrition, and biomechanics, alongside research methods. Students can also explore optional areas like animal production, toxicology, and professional experience to broaden their expertise. In the final year, the program emphasizes independent learning and specialization, with students completing a dissertation that involves planning, conducting, and reporting on a research project. Core subjects such as immunology, pharmacology, and epidemiology provide deeper insight into disease mechanisms, treatment, and control, including their impact on animal and public health. Optional modules allow further exploration of advanced microbiology or current issues in livestock science. Throughout the course, students gain analytical, laboratory, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for careers in veterinary support, research, animal health industries, and related scientific fields.
