COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Livestock Science program is structured over three years to develop strong scientific knowledge, practical skills, and industry experience with a focus on livestock production. In the first year, students build a foundation in sustainable agriculture, agricultural economics, livestock science, soil and grassland management, and agricultural technologies, while also developing academic and professional skills. They gain an understanding of how crop production supports livestock systems and complete around 280 hours of industry placement to enhance practical experience. The second year focuses on applying knowledge through modules such as farm business management, livestock nutrition, livestock health and disease, forage crops, and research methods, alongside industry engagement that strengthens professional and technical competencies. In the final year, students undertake an independent dissertation aligned with their interests, supported by academic guidance. They also explore advanced topics including developments in livestock science, agricultural sustainability through social licence and One Health, supply chain management, and strategic management. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on real-world application, critical thinking, and industry awareness. This combination of academic study and hands-on experience ensures graduates are well-prepared for diverse careers and capable of contributing effectively to sustainable and efficient livestock-based agricultural systems.
