COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Food Business Management (with placement) programme is structured over four years and combines core business education with specialist knowledge of the food industry, preparing students for careers in food retail, production, marketing, and supply chain management. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Business Economics, Running a Business, Academic Skills, International and Domestic Perspectives, Organisations and Markets, Work and Wellbeing, and Enrichment Activities, which develop essential business understanding and academic skills. Year 2 focuses on applied food sector learning with modules including Selling, Negotiating and Networking, Food Marketing and Retail, Food Product Innovation, Managing People and Workplace Success, and Food Product Processing, along with electives such as Food Supply Chains and Logistics and Food Retail Buying. Year 3 is a placement year, giving students valuable industry experience to apply their learning, build professional networks, and develop employability skills in real-world food business environments. In Year 4, students undertake advanced study through modules such as Sustainability and Business Ethics, Integrated Global Business, Strategic Leadership, and Entrepreneurship and Adaptive Management, alongside a Dissertation. Overall, the programme develops strong commercial awareness, leadership, innovation, and strategic management skills tailored to the food sector, preparing graduates for diverse roles and entrepreneurial opportunities in the global food industry.
