COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Agriculture (with placement) programme is structured over four years and combines agricultural science, business management, and practical farming systems to prepare students for modern agricultural careers. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Introduction to Farm Business Management, Introduction to Farming Systems, Agri-Food Supply Chains, Assessing the Efficiency of Farming Systems, Agricultural Technology and Digital Farming, Agricultural and Environmental Science, and Skills for Agriculture, which provide a broad understanding of agricultural principles and practices. Year 2 builds applied knowledge with modules including Preparation for Placement and Research, Farm Business Management with Marketing, Natural Resources and Farming Systems, Applied Agricultural Science, Crop Production Systems, and Livestock Production Systems, alongside elective options such as World Cropping Systems, Global Animal Production, Managing Change in Agriculture, and Autonomous Systems. Year 3 is a dedicated placement year, allowing students to gain real-world industry experience. In Year 4, students focus on advanced and integrated learning through modules like Professional Team Project, Global Perspectives in Agriculture, Integrated Livestock Production, Integrated Crop Production, Agricultural Business Development and People Management, and a final Honours Research Project. Overall, the programme progressively develops technical expertise, business awareness, and practical farming skills, preparing graduates for careers in farm management, agribusiness, consultancy, and agricultural development roles globally.
