COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Livestock Production Science (with placement) programme is a four-year degree designed to develop expertise in sustainable and modern livestock systems. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Introduction to Farm Business Management, Introduction to Farming Systems, Agri-Food Supply Chains, Assessing the Efficiency of Farming Systems, Agricultural Technology and Digital Farming, Agricultural and Environmental Science, and Skills for Agriculture, which provide essential knowledge of agricultural systems and farm operations. Year 2 focuses on applied livestock and business knowledge with modules including Preparation for Placement and Research, Farm Business Management with Marketing, Natural Resources and Farming Systems, Livestock Production Systems, Farm Animal Biochemistry, Nutrition and Health, and Farm Animal Science and Improvement, alongside elective options such as World Cropping Systems, Global Animal Production, Managing Change in Agriculture, and Autonomous Systems. Year 3 is a placement year, offering valuable industry experience and practical exposure. In Year 4, students advance to specialised and strategic study through modules such as Professional Team Project, Global Perspectives in Agriculture, Livestock Production Systems and the Natural Environment, Advances in Livestock Production Science, Agricultural Business Development and People Management, and a final Honours Research Project. Overall, the programme develops technical, scientific, and managerial skills for careers in livestock farming, animal science, and agribusiness.
