COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agriculture with Farm Business Management (with placement) programme is a four-year degree designed to combine agricultural science with business and management skills for modern farming systems. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Introduction to Farm Business Management, Introduction to Farming Systems, Agri-Food Supply Chains, Assessing the Efficiency of Farming Systems, Agricultural Technology and Digital Farming, Agricultural and Environmental Science, and Skills for Agriculture, which provide an understanding of both agricultural production and business principles. Year 2 develops applied knowledge with modules including Preparation for Placement and Research, Farm Business Management with Marketing, Natural Resources and Farming Systems, Applied Crop and Livestock Production Systems, Farm Business Operations and Planning, and Leadership and the Role of Professional Services in Farm Business Management, along with optional electives such as World Cropping Systems, Global Animal Production, Managing Change in Agriculture, and Autonomous Systems. Year 3 is a placement year, giving students real-world industry experience. In Year 4, students focus on advanced management and strategic decision-making through modules such as Professional Team Project, Global Perspectives in Agriculture, Management of Agricultural Systems, Farm Business Case Study, Farm Business Strategy to Implementation, and a final Honours Research Project. Overall, the programme develops technical, managerial, and strategic skills for careers in farm management, consultancy, finance, and agribusiness leadership.
