COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agriculture with Crop Production Science (with placement) programme is structured over four years and combines agricultural science, crop-focused studies, and business skills to prepare students for careers in modern crop production systems. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Introduction to Farm Business Management, Introduction to Farming Systems, Agri-Food Supply Chains, Assessing the Efficiency of Farming Systems, Agricultural Technology and Digital Farming, Agricultural and Environmental Science, and Skills for Agriculture, which introduce key principles of farming and agricultural systems. Year 2 develops more specialised knowledge with modules including Preparation for Placement and Research, Farm Business Management with Marketing, Natural Resources and Farming Systems, Crop Production Systems, Crop Protection and Nutrition, and Crop Physiology and Genetics, alongside electives such as World Cropping Systems, Global Animal Production, Managing Change in Agriculture, and Autonomous Systems. Year 3 is a dedicated placement year in industry, providing hands-on professional experience. In Year 4, students focus on advanced crop science and management through modules like Professional Team Project, Global Perspectives in Agriculture, Advances in Crop Production Science, Sustainable Cropping Systems and Technology, Agricultural Business Development and People Management, and a final Honours Research Project. Overall, the programme develops technical expertise, scientific understanding, and management skills for careers in crop production, agribusiness, and agricultural research.
