COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Wildlife Conservation and Ecology programme is a three-year degree that combines ecological science, conservation practice, and field-based learning to prepare students for careers in environmental protection and biodiversity management. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Fundamentals of the Physical Environment, Contemporary Issues in Sustainability, Ecological Principles, Introduction to Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Survey and Field Skills, Skills for the Natural Scientist, and Communicating Science in a Digital World, which introduce key scientific concepts and field techniques. Year 2 builds advanced knowledge and applied skills through modules including Research Methods and Geographical Information Systems, Population and Community Ecology, Wildlife Conservation Management, Practical Research Skills, and Professional Development for the Natural Scientist, alongside optional study areas such as Urban Ecology and Green Infrastructure, Behavioural Ecology and Wildlife Conservation, and Woodland Management. Year 3 focuses on independent and applied learning with modules including an Honours Research Dissertation, Ecological Applications, Wildlife Conservation and Environmental Land Management, and Integrative Project Management, supported by optional advanced topics such as GIS, forestry, countryside projects, or an international field course. Overall, the programme develops strong scientific, analytical, and practical field skills for careers in wildlife conservation, ecology, habitat management, and environmental consultancy.
