COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Forensic Psychology provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the theory, research, and practice required to work effectively in forensic settings. Modules such as *The Psychology of Criminal Behaviour* and *Psychology and the Legal Process* introduce the psychological models of crime and the structures of legal systems in the UK. These form the bedrock for more specialised modules that explore the roles and interactions of psychologists within justice systems, such as *Working in Forensic Settings* and *Principles of Forensic Practice*. Students gain insight into policing, rehabilitation, expert witness duties, and the professional pathways in forensic psychology.A strong focus is placed on assessment and intervention. The *Psychological Assessment* module equips students with skills to evaluate offenders and assess risks, while *Psychological Intervention* introduces evidence-based treatment approaches used with forensic populations. These modules ensure that students understand not just why criminal behaviour occurs, but also how to formulate responses to it and contribute meaningfully to offender rehabilitation and risk reduction.Other modules support practical and reflective learning. *Vulnerable Groups in Forensic Settings* addresses the psychological needs of individuals who may be at greater risk, such as victims or offenders with mental health issues.
