COURSE CURRICULUM

The adult nursing program spans four years, focusing on developing both practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for a successful nursing career. In the first year, students are introduced to essential nursing concepts through core modules such as Values and Rights Based Nursing Practice, Health Improvement, Contemporary Health Care Delivery, and Introduction to Evidence Based Practice. These foundational modules ensure that students understand the ethical, professional, and research-informed principles of nursing care. In the second year, students delve deeper into clinical practice with modules like Anticipatory and Alternative Approaches to Adult Nursing and Developing Skills for Professional Nursing Practice (Adult), which prepare them for hands-on patient care, focusing on proactive and individualized care strategies. The third year builds on clinical expertise, focusing on empowering and enabling person-centred care through modules such as Adult Nursing to Empower, Enable, and Enhance Person-Centred Care and Consolidating Professional Skills for Nursing Practice (Adult). These courses help students refine their clinical decision-making skills and enhance their ability to deliver patient-focused care. In the final year, students engage with more advanced topics, including completing an Honours level dissertation, exploring Leadership in Interprofessional Teams, and advancing the application of values-based nursing practice in health and social care. This comprehensive curriculum prepares graduates for the complexities of adult nursing, equipping them with the skills necessary to lead, collaborate with other professionals, and deliver high-quality care in diverse healthcare settings.
