COURSE CURRICULUM

The civil engineering program is structured over four years, combining technical knowledge with practical experience to prepare students for careers in engineering and infrastructure development. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts through modules like Foundation Level Civil Engineering, Surveying, and Structures. These courses establish the essential understanding of civil engineering principles and design. In the second year, students dive deeper into more specialized areas, including Principles of Hydraulics, Contracts Management, Structural Design, and Geotechnics. These subjects build on the foundational knowledge and start to explore the complexities of engineering projects. The third year focuses on further developing technical expertise with modules like Structural & Ground Engineering, Public Health, Water and Waste Water Treatment, along with a Work Placement, allowing students to gain real-world experience and apply their learning in professional environments. In the final year, students complete an Honours Project and explore advanced topics in Environmental Civil Engineering, such as Advanced Structural Engineering, Water Resource Management, and Waste Management. This year emphasizes the practical application of skills and prepares students for specialized roles in civil engineering, with a strong focus on sustainable practices and the management of resources. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to tackle the diverse challenges of civil engineering, from infrastructure development to environmental and resource management.
