COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year diagnostic radiography degree program is structured to provide students with the theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and professional experience necessary to become competent radiographers. In the first year, students study Anatomy for Radiographers 1 and Fundamentals of Human Physiology to gain a detailed understanding of the human body. Physics for Radiographers introduces the physical principles behind medical imaging, while Preparation for Professional Practice (IPE) and Professional Practice Education and Application 1 begin the development of clinical and interprofessional skills through both classroom learning and early placement experience. In the second year, learning continues with Anatomy for Radiographers 2 and more hands-on clinical exposure in Professional Practice Education and Application 2. Radiographic Principles and Advanced Imaging provide deeper insight into imaging techniques and technologies, and the Interprofessional Teams and Communities module (IPE) helps students understand collaborative practice across healthcare professions. In the third year, students further develop critical thinking and research abilities through Methodology and Research for Effective Practice. Understanding Professional Teams and Leadership enhances their professional and teamwork capabilities. Specialized modules such as Oncology: Multi-Modality Diagnosis and Treatment and Pattern Recognition in Radiography focus on interpreting diagnostic images and understanding how various imaging modalities contribute to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Clinical practice continues in Professional Practice Education and Application 3. In the final year, students complete an Honours Project, which involves independent research or in-depth study of a professional issue. They also take modules such as Developments in Professional Practice and Person Centred Care, which address the evolving nature of healthcare and the importance of tailored patient care. Clinical learning is concluded with Professional Practice Education and Application 4. Overall, this program combines academic study, practical training, and research, ensuring graduates are fully prepared for professional registration and employment in diagnostic radiography.
