COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year computing degree program is carefully designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computing principles while offering flexibility to specialize in advanced areas of interest. In the first year, students are introduced to core concepts such as Fundamentals of Computer Systems, Software Engineering, and Networking and Cloud Computing. Programming 0 lays the groundwork for coding skills, while Maths for Computing and Database Development develop analytical and data management capabilities. Practical Computing reinforces technical knowledge through hands-on experience. The second year builds on this foundation with more advanced modules such as Programming 1 and 2, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, and Human Computer Interaction, helping students understand how to create user-centered systems. Software Processes and Practice introduces methodologies for efficient software development, and Web Application Development 1 begins training in web-based technologies. In the third year, the focus shifts to collaborative and data-driven learning. Students participate in a Group Project, learning teamwork and project management skills, while DevOps emphasizes continuous development and deployment practices. Modules like Introduction to Data Science and Data Visualisation expand analytical capabilities, and Research Skills and Professional Issues prepare students for the challenges of final-year research and professional environments. Web Application Development 2 further enhances web development skills. In the final year, students undertake an Honours Project, applying everything they have learned to a major independent project. They also choose four optional modules from a list that includes Machine Learning and Data Analysis, Business Process Modelling, Front-end Web Development, Programming Paradigms, Secure Software Development, Cloud Platform Development, Advanced Human Computer Interaction, and Managing Sustainable Business Excellence. This structure allows students to tailor their learning according to their interests and career goals. Overall, the program combines theory, practice, and specialization to prepare graduates for dynamic roles in the computing industry.
