COURSE CURRICULUM

The computing program is a four-year degree designed to equip students with a solid foundation in computer science and advanced expertise in software development, data science, and cloud technologies. In the first year, students build core knowledge through modules such as Fundamentals of Computer Systems, Fundamentals of Software Engineering, Programming 0, Fundamentals of Networking and Cloud Computing, Maths for Computing, Database Development, and Practical Computing. These subjects introduce essential concepts in programming, system architecture, databases, and network infrastructure. The second year deepens programming skills and introduces more structured design practices with modules including Programming 1 and 2, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Human Computer Interaction, Web Application Development 1, and Software Processes and Practice. This year emphasizes the design, development, and usability of software systems. In the third year, the focus shifts towards applied computing and collaboration. Students take modules such as Introduction to Data Science, DevOps, Data Visualisation, Programming 3, and Research Skills and Professional Issues, along with participating in a Group Project that simulates real-world teamwork. These modules build proficiency in managing development lifecycles and interpreting data to support decision-making. The final year prepares students for advanced computing roles with modules such as Advanced Data Science, Big Data and IoT, Cloud Platform Development, and Machine Learning. Students also undertake an Honours Project, where they conduct independent research or develop a substantial software solution. By combining theoretical foundations with practical applications across the latest technologies, this program prepares graduates for careers in software engineering, data analysis, cloud development, and emerging fields like AI and IoT.
