COURSE CURRICULUM

The adult nursing program is structured over three years and is designed to equip students with the knowledge, values, and practical skills needed to provide effective and compassionate care. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundational concepts of nursing through core modules such as Values and Rights Based Nursing Practice, Health Improvement, Contemporary Health Care Delivery, and Introduction to Evidence Based Practice. These modules focus on the ethical, legal, and professional standards of nursing, while also developing an understanding of healthcare systems and the importance of using research to inform clinical decisions. In the second year, students begin to deepen their clinical knowledge and skills with modules like Anticipatory and Alternative Approaches to Adult Nursing and Developing Skills for Professional Nursing Practice (Adult). This stage emphasizes proactive care and supports the development of hands-on skills essential for adult nursing across diverse clinical environments. The third and final year focuses on advanced, person-centred care, and the integration of learning into professional practice. Core modules include Adult Nursing to Empower, Enable and Enhance Person-Centred Care and Consolidating Professional Skills for Nursing Practice (Adult), which help students refine their clinical judgment, communication, and leadership abilities. These final modules prepare students for the transition from student to registered nurse, with a strong emphasis on holistic, responsive care that meets individual patient needs. Throughout the program, there is a consistent focus on professionalism, evidence-based care, and developing the competencies needed to practice safely and effectively. This structure ensures that graduates are well-prepared to deliver high-quality nursing care and take on professional roles within healthcare settings, making meaningful contributions to patient well-being and the broader healthcare system.
