COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree provides a comprehensive and evolving curriculum that blends theoretical foundations with practical application. In Years 1 and 2, students undertake a shared core curriculum designed to establish a strong base across key engineering disciplines. This includes Electrical Principles, Analogue and Digital Electronics, Mathematics, Software Development, Mechanical Principles, and Electrical Systems. Each year is structured around a Design Project, allowing students to apply and integrate their learning in hands-on, problem-solving contexts.By Year 3, students begin to specialise while still covering essential engineering knowledge. Core modules include Digital and Programmable Systems, Integrated Engineering Studies, and Engineering Operations and Management. These are supplemented by a range of optional modules that reflect both industry trends and individual interests, such as Signals and Electronic Systems Design, Communications Engineering, Modelling and Data Analysis, Control Engineering, and Computer Aided Engineering. This flexibility supports students in aligning their studies with their career goals or technical preferences.In the final year, the Honours Project becomes the central focus, giving students the opportunity to independently explore a significant technical challenge or innovation. Digital Signal Processing is a core subject, furthering students’ understanding of a key area in modern electronic systems. A wide selection of advanced optional modules allows for further specialisation. Options such as Intelligent Robotics and Mechatronics, Digital Design and Computer Architecture, Wireless Communications, and System Level Design equip students with expertise in cutting-edge technologies relevant to industries such as automation, telecommunications, and embedded systems.Overall, the program ensures graduates are technically proficient, analytically capable, and ready for diverse engineering careers or postgraduate study.
