The BA (Hons) Fashion Design program is a dynamic and practice-oriented degree that equips students with the creative, technical, and business skills needed to succeed in the fashion industry. In Year 1, students develop a foundational understanding of fashion design through modules such as Creative Fashion Concepts, Foundations in Fashion Design and Visualisation, and Foundations in Garment Realisation. These are supported by broader business and communication studies in Global Challenges for Business and Society, Principles of Marketing, and Introduction to Digital Image Creation, ensuring students begin to link design with market relevance.In Year 2, the curriculum builds technical proficiency and creative depth. Modules like Fashion Design and Visualisation Intermediate and Garment Realisation Intermediate help refine practical skills in drawing, pattern cutting, and garment construction. Fashion Design Practice encourages originality and concept development, while Digital Content Creation and Fundamentals of Financial Management introduce digital tools and financial literacy essential for a modern designer.Year 3 shifts focus toward professional development and strategic thinking. Students engage in Digital Presentation and Portfolio to showcase their work, and take part in Business Case Investigation and Strategic Marketing Planning, applying their skills to real-world scenarios. Modules like Fashion for the Common Good and Managing People and Diversity at Work highlight ethical practice and leadership in the industry.In the final year, students complete two major pieces of work: Final Major Fashion Project 1 and 2, which allow them to design, develop, and present a full fashion collection or concept. Alongside this, the Honours Research Project provides an opportunity to critically explore a topic of personal interest. The Creating and Designing Experiences module helps students envision and deliver compelling brand experiences. The course prepares graduates for careers in fashion design, product development, creative direction, or entrepreneurship in the global fashion sector.
