COURSE CURRICULUM

This Game Programming course is structured across three study blocks, each designed to progressively build your expertise and confidence in game development. In the first study block, you’ll engage with *Development Practice*, where you’ll deepen your knowledge of game development by working in interdisciplinary teams, focusing on skills like C++ programming and git versioning. Alongside collaborative work, you’ll complete a personal reflective case study to enhance your understanding of your own development process. In *Digital Games Technology*, you’ll explore the technical foundations of digital games, applying mathematical concepts and experimenting with low-level graphics APIs such as OpenGL to recreate classic games or demake modern ones, reinforcing your understanding of game engines and rendering pipelines.In the second study block, *Advanced Game Programming* introduces you to industry-standard tools like Unreal Engine 5. Here, you'll implement original gameplay features using sophisticated programming techniques, pushing the boundaries of interactivity and performance. The *Game Development Project* gives you the chance to work in multidisciplinary teams in a simulated studio setting, where you’ll take a concept through prototyping to a playable demo suitable for funding pitches.In the final study block, you’ll undertake a *Major Project* under expert supervision, conducting practice-based or empirical research. Many students choose to continue the development of their team projects from the previous block with the aim of producing a commercially viable game. This culminating module allows you to refine your technical skills and demonstrate your ability to manage a substantial project from concept to completion. Throughout the course, you’ll gain vital experience in programming, collaboration, and game production—preparing you to launch a successful career in the games industry or to independently publish your own work.
