COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Games is structured into three study blocks, each designed to build advanced expertise in AI and game development. In the first block, students undertake two core modules. The Development Practice module enhances technical and collaborative skills through small-scale projects, focusing on C++ programming, version control with Git, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Alongside this, students complete a personal reflective case study to deepen their understanding and expand their development practice. The Classical Artificial Intelligence module introduces foundational AI techniques, allowing students to explore traditional algorithms used for decision-making in the games industry and beyond, establishing a solid theoretical base for later study.In the second block, the course transitions into modern AI applications. The Machine Learning module enables students to use current frameworks to analyse complex, data-rich environments. Through practical work, students develop the ability to design and implement intelligent systems using state-of-the-art machine learning tools. Simultaneously, the Game Development Project challenges students to collaborate across disciplines to create a game prototype, refining both their design thinking and technical execution skills in a professional-style environment.The final block centres on the Major Project, a comprehensive research and development task guided by an academic supervisor. This capstone project allows students to focus on a specialist area of interest within AI for games, producing a polished, publishable-quality outcome that demonstrates both creative and technical excellence.
