COURSE CURRICULUM

This Robotics BSc degree offers a comprehensive and progressive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in the evolving robotics industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in programming, computer science, and physical computing, culminating in the creation of an autonomous robot. Modules explore computing principles, digital creativity, data fundamentals, development processes, and teamwork in a digital context. The second year shifts focus to subject specialism, where students delve into computational mathematics, embedded systems, and cybernetics. They enhance their understanding of robotics through modules such as Robotics & Cybernetics, Algorithms & Optimisation, and Robot Design, where they design, simulate, and fabricate their own robot prototypes while addressing ethical and sustainability issues. Digital prototyping and AI/machine learning are also covered, preparing students for real-world innovation. In the final year, students gain intellectual independence through a major individual Research & Development project, guided by academic experts. They further explore human-robot interaction and professional skills in modules like Future Skills. The year concludes with a major collaborative project, where multi-skilled teams respond to real-world briefs or develop market-ready innovations. Throughout the course, students engage in ethical reflection and critical thinking, preparing them for future careers or entrepreneurial ventures in robotics and related fields.
