COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computing for Games BSc at Falmouth University is a three-year program blending creativity and technical expertise to prepare students for careers in game programming and software development. In the first year, students learn programming fundamentals using modern languages in Principles of Computing, alongside digital creativity in Digital Creativity, exploring media formats and ethical issues. Development Foundations introduces prototyping and teamwork, Data Fundamentals covers the data science lifecycle, and Individual Programming Project focuses on object-oriented solutions. Multidisciplinary Teamwork involves creating digital products with diverse teams, using C# in Unity. The second year deepens specialization with Advanced Game Programming, exploring game engines and AI, and Computational Mathematics, applying mathematical principles to cybersecurity. World Building: Pre-production and Production involve collaborative world-creation projects, while Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning address real-world AI applications and ethics. In the third year, students gain intellectual freedom with Research & Development: Proposal and Dissertation, creating a novel computing artefact and academic dissertation. Graphics & Simulation enhances coding for game engines, Future Skills fosters entrepreneurial mindsets, and Major Collaboration delivers a substantial team project, often continuing prior work or addressing industry briefs. Set in Falmouth’s inspiring coastal environment, the program equips graduates with technical proficiency, collaborative skills, and an industry-ready portfolio for careers in games or tech industries.
