COURSE CURRICULUM

This Theatre & Performance course offers a comprehensive, hands-on education in contemporary theatre-making, developing students from foundational skills to professional-level practice. In the first year, students build core performance abilities in voice, body, movement, and imaginative techniques, while exploring digital and immersive technologies. They engage with global issues, historical contexts, and contemporary practices, and learn to interpret texts, culminating in ensemble performances of original work. Focus is also placed on wellbeing, resilience, and sustainability – key for long-term careers in performance. In the second year, students expand into advanced body-based training and technical theatre, including directing, writing, scenography, and solo performance creation. They produce a public performance as part of a theatre company, exploring audience engagement through immersive and participatory forms. Students also study leading theatre organisations and festivals, enhancing their understanding of the industry, and apply advanced performance techniques in socially engaged theatre-making projects. In the final year, students sharpen their practical and philosophical approaches to theatre. They develop independent projects through scratch performances and create professional productions for public audiences and industry professionals. A research module deepens critical reflection on personal interests, while professional development sessions prepare students for careers in performance, helping them build a market-ready identity and explore broader creative industries.
