COURSE CURRICULUM

Over three years, this film and television course guides students in developing their creative voice and technical expertise across multiple disciplines, from screenwriting to cinematography, sound, editing, and production design. In the first year, students explore their identity as creative practitioners, learning foundational skills in camera, lighting, sound, and editing, while engaging with the social, cultural, and industrial contexts of film and television. They collaborate on documentary and drama productions, adopting key roles like director or cinematographer, and begin to consider representation and inclusivity in storytelling.In the second year, students focus more deeply on areas of special interest such as screenwriting, producing, sound, cinematography, and post-production. Through group projects, they work on short films, documentaries, and live briefs, developing greater collaboration skills and on-location production experience. Students also engage in research practices, exploring academic and industry-based topics that prepare them for their final year. They gain insight into the business of film and television, learning how to market their work and navigate the evolving media landscape.In the final year, students create ambitious major projects in their chosen specialisms. They produce a portfolio that reflects their creative growth and technical mastery, supported by mentoring, critiques, and employability guidance. The course culminates in a professional-standard final project and career preparation.
