COURSE CURRICULUM

This tourism management course is structured across three years, gradually building students’ knowledge and practical experience in sustainable tourism. In the first year, students explore the structure and scope of the tourism industry, focusing on tourist experiences, wellbeing, niche tourism markets, and promotional communication strategies. Modules also introduce sustainability concepts and encourage reflection on personal development as a responsible practitioner. The second year deepens this foundation with operational and strategic skills. Students engage with tourism product innovation, financial and project management, and tourism operations, including legal and HR considerations. Collaborative projects and research methods provide hands-on learning opportunities that simulate real-world tourism management challenges. In the final year, the focus shifts to leadership, crisis management, and strategic destination planning. Students examine destination storytelling and develop their own strategies for sustainable tourism, culminating in a live consultancy project. The year also includes a funded residential trip, enhancing practical experience and reflective learning. A final research project allows students to specialise in an area of interest, contributing new ideas to the field. By graduation, students will have developed a broad understanding of tourism’s challenges and responsibilities, along with strong professional, leadership and communication skills tailored to a changing global tourism landscape.
